Precocious Teenage Sex
For teenagers, sex is considered
an emotionally powerful experience,
combined with risks and psychological changes.
All adolescents have sex lives, whether
they are sexually active with others,
with themselves, or seemingly not at all.
Viewing adolescent sexuality as a potentially
positive experience, rather than as something
inherently dangerous, may help young people
develop healthier patterns and make more
positive choices regarding sex.

While some researchers suggest that teens
are increasingly engaging in oral sex.
Other studies indicate that there has been little
change in either oral sex or vaginal sex among
teen opposite-sex partners over the past decade.
A minority, 13%, of children aged 15
have experienced vaginal sex.
The average age of first sexual intercourse
is 17.0 for males and 17.3 for females.
By the time they are high school seniors,
66% of girls and nearly 63% of boys report
they have had intercourse.

virgins. This percentage has risen over time.
Sixteen percent of adults first had sex before
age 15, while 15 percent abstained from
sex until at least age 21.

Mexican-Americans and non-Hispanic whites.

Lolita is a 1955 novel written by Vladimir Nabokov.
The novel is notable for its controversial subject:
the protagonist and unreliable narrator, Humbert Humbert,
is obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze,
with whom he becomes sexually involved
after he becomes her stepfather.
Some critics have accepted Humbert’s version
of events at face value.
The theme of Lolita is not the corruption of an
innocent child by a cunning adult, but the
exploitation of a weak adult by a corrupt child.
This is no pretty theme, but it is one with which
social workers, magistrates and psychiatrists are familiar.
Girls will most likely lose their virginity
to a boy who is 1 to 3 years older than they are.
According to one study, almost 14 percent
of teens lose their virginity in June,
the most common month.
The teen’s home, their partner’s home
or a friend’s house is the most common place
for virginity to be lost, with 68% of teens
losing their virginity in one of those three places.
The same study found that the likelihood
of a first sexual experience happening will
increase with the number of hours a day
teens spend unsupervised.
