I’ve been swamped with tweets and selfies from
women declaring they no longer need bras at all.
On top of these online declarations of freedom,
a question asked years ago during the
#FreeTheNipple movement is being posed once again:
why was anyone wearing a bra in the first place?
Men seem to have a never-ending obsession
with breasts. Many of them have size preferences.
I’ve always thought breast size taste was like
preferring redheads to blondes. Behavioral science
claims this may not be the case.
A preference for large and very large breasts was
significantly correlated with overt sexism, benevolent
sexism, female objectification and hostile attitudes toward women.
This connection was strongest when it came
to benevolent sexism. Adolescent males who
tend to idealize “traditional” femininity
and perceive young women as meek and weak,
are also the most likely to prefer big boobs.
Men’s Breast Fixation
Further analyses shows that their preferences for larger female breasts are significantly associated with a greater tendency to be benevolently sexist, to objectify women, and to be hostile towards women.
These results were discussed in relation to feminist theories, which postulate that beauty ideals and practices in contemporary societies serve to maintain the domination of one sex over the other.
The findings don’t mean that all men who find big breasts attractive are sexist. Also, knowing that some guys may associate your big boobs with weakness is NOT a reason to have a breast reduction.
But this research is a good reminder that social ideas about what makes a woman sexually desirable don’t just impact the way women feel about themselves or how they imagine men perceive them. Those ideas impact the way that men view women — both how attractive and how powerful men think they are.
Obviously, men who love small breasts can be sexist and plenty of men who love big breasts claim to be feminists. Different strokes for different folk.
Breasts Are a Significant Erogenous Zone in Woman
Be aware of what’s going on with the rest of her body.
Her breathing, the way she moans, her flush.
But don’t ignore the breasts themselves. Sexual arousal
causes more blood flow to the breasts, and often results
in the breast tissue swelling up to 25%.
Reddening of the skin on the breasts and darkening of
the areolas are also good signs she’s into it.
