Public sex acts can be performed in cars (colloquially
called “parking”), on beaches, in forests, theatres,
buses, streets, toilet cubicles, or cemeteries.
Public sex is sexual activity that takes
place in a public context. It refers to one or more
persons performing a sex act in a public place, or in a
private place which can be viewed from a public place.
Such a private place may be a back yard or a bedroom with
the curtains open. Public sex also includes sexual acts
in semi-public places where the general public is free to
enter, such as shopping malls.
Region
In September 2003, the BBC reported on a “dogging” craze
fueled by Internet publicity. Dogging is a British
English slang term for engaging in public sex, usually
in a car park or country park, while others watch.
Dogging has aspects of exhibitionism and voyeurism.
Outdoor public sex purportedly takes place often in
parks and beaches in Vancouver and San Francisco.
According to the New York magazine,
public sex occurs frequently in New
York City – a fantasy common to many.
Perception
Social views related to public sex and sexuality vary
greatly between different cultures and different times.
There are many and varied laws which apply to sex in
public, which use a variety of terms such as indecent
exposure, public lewdness, gross indecency, and others.
In some jurisdictions, an offense is committed only
if the participants are seen by others, so that a
sex act may occur in a closed toilet cubicle without
an offense being committed.
In the UK, there has been a rise in public sex venues,
possibly due to a more relaxed approach to the enforce-
ment of laws relating to public sex since the early 1990s.
Imagine! Everyone’s Naked
Why Is Public Nudity Illegal?
Because it’s so difficult to ignore. An act needn’t
be objectively harmful to merit prohibition.
It can create an unpleasant mental state
such as shame, disgust or anxiety in observers.
Nudity has a unique ability to demand our attention.
The unresolved conflict between instinctual desires
and cultural taboos leaves many people in a state
of unstable equilibrium yet fascinated.
We are drawn towards the sexual suggestiveness
of the naked body, yet ashamed of our reaction.
Can going naked
be good for you?
Those of us who go naked at home,
in the office or naked in public
are more likely to be happier not
just with our bodies, but also
with our lives more generally.

Nudist Paradise:
What’s It’s Like
to Go Naked
It’s amazing how fast you can get used to being naked in public.
For me, it was three days before putting on an article of
clothing felt strange. Clothes really did start to feel like
a costume I was putting on to present myself to the outside world.
I had always been happy with my body image, but I had never
really noticed how much I was aware of myself under my clothes.
Is my shirt sticking to my stomach? Do I need to suck in more?
Are my shorts riding up my butt? Does my bra make my boobs
look appealing?
Being naked, there was nothing to hide behind.
At first, this was terrifying. I was hyper-aware
of everything. Why are my nipples hard? That’s
embarrassing. Jesus, have I always had this many rolls?
Say It out Loud!
I’m Naked & Proud!
Do you ever undress a gorgeous creature with
your eyes, imagining what they’d look like naked?
That’s the goal. Getting some sexy thing
into your bed naked. But then what do we do:
lights out for the duration of the evening
and an early-morning quick change?
If imagining someone in the flesh gets us
so immediately turned on, why do we so
often spend the night reading body braille?
The acceptance and appreciation of the naked human body
is not only personal, but extremely culture specific.
Are Americans too uptight about nudity? We don’t
see tits flashing up on-screen during a body soap
commercial like so many European countries.
