It’s the purest form of porn available for
straight guys. Watching women pleasure each
other is highly titillating.
Watching heterosexual porn isn’t as exciting.
I’m not interested in what the man is doing.
As far as the connoisseur concerned, he just
gets in the way.

Lap up ‘Lesbian’ Sex
Depictions of lesbianism have been popular in the visual arts, especially in erotic art, since at least the time of ancient Rome.
For much of the history of cinema and television, lesbianism was considered taboo, though since the 1960s it has increasingly become a theme in its own right.
First used in softcore movies and erotic thrillers, depictions of lesbianism entered the mainstream in the 1980s. In pornography, depictions of lesbian sex form a popular sub-genre, geared toward a male heterosexual and female homosexual audience.
Depiction of lesbianism or “girl on girl” sex has been a relatively common theme in erotic art and pornography throughout history.
Studies indicate that heterosexual men were more aroused by depictions involving lesbian sex than they are by depictions of heterosexual activity.
Historically, erotica and pornography involving sex between women has been produced by men for a predominantly male audience.
Most porn actresses perform in sex scenes with other women at least occasionally. Many even specialize in this genre and only have sex with other women on camera.
Though porn-industry publicity tends to portray porn actresses as being bisexual, such on-screen activity does not necessarily reflect real-life sexual orientation.
Some actresses who perform in these scenes are bisexual or lesbian in real life, while others are “gay-for-pay” and are exclusively heterosexual off-camera.
Mainstream pornography depicting sex between women is typically aimed at a male audience (though it also has a small lesbian audience).
Several penile plethysmography studies [measurement of blood flow to the cock] have shown high levels of arousal in heterosexual men to pornography showing sexual activity between women.
One of these studies reported that on average heterosexual men are more aroused by pornography showing sexual activity between women than they are by depictions of heterosexual activity.
I readily admit finding something extremely erotic about two girls together. Even the thought of it is enough to jack off. I want to see the woman’s response, arousal and orgasm. Watching female masturbation porn is much more to the point.
Fine Young Lesbians
A lot of people don’t like labels but sometimes it’s
useful to have some common words that everyone
understands, just to make life a bit easier.
For example, a sexual health clinic might hold a
‘lesbian drop-in’ session to offer help just to
women who fancy women.
The fact that everybody knows what is meant by
a service for lesbians means that the right
people will use it, which is really important.
Girls Get Intimate
Almost a decade ago, I was a newly-formed gay excitedly
coming out to everyone I knew. I jumped at openings to
tell people that I had a girlfriend and loaded my
backpack with rainbow pins so everyone who walked by
me would know that I was not straight.
But I never used lesbian to describe myself,
even though it’s the most accurate word.
As a woman who’s sexually and romantically attracted
solely to other women, I am a lesbian.
But for some reason, “lesbian” has always felt too harsh.
Even now, I find myself hesitating every time I use it.
Gay and queer might feel less controversial to me,
but those words have homophobic histories as well.
Queer was a slur long before it was a word that describes
a sexual orientation, and while we traditionally think of
words like fag or dykeas LGBT slurs, even gay is a slur
when it’s said with malice.
While gay and queer feel safer than lesbian to me,
that may be a result of successful movements to
reclaim both of those words.
Young queer women now proudly call themselves dykes. But there
hasn’t been any major effort to reclaim the word lesbian.
A dyke is a woman committed to revolution,
the most radical position.
A lesbian is committed to a more liberal position. She’s
more willing to compromise and work within the system.
A gay woman affirms her commitment to a gay community
and sees nothing wrong with working with men.
A crone has moved beyond all the silliness of name-calling.
